Korean Demilitarized Zone – DMZ

The DMZ is an interesting place to visit to learn about the history and gain an understanding of the tensions which still exist between the two countries. It was surprising to hear about some of the cooperation which had been happening under the former leaders of both countries. Unfortunately this doesn’t appear to be happening anymore.  South Korea built a railway station and a line was constructed all the way to Pyeongyang. Dorasan is basically deserted except for tourists catching the train from Seoul.  Due to the weather conditions and photo restrictions Dorasan was the only place were we could take any decent photo’s.

 

When the red lights turn green, trains will be allowed to travel to North Korea again. Who knows when that might be.
