Joint Security Area (JSA)
Part 2 of my visit into the DMZ involved a trip to the Joint Security Area which is run by the Republic of Korea (ROK) soldiers and the US Armed forces. At all times we had a US Soldier accompany us and ROK soldiers keeping an eye out for any trouble.
Below is a photo of the border which is represented by the concrete strip. The photo was taken from the NK side looking back into SK.
Two NK Soldiers decided to come for a walk while we were taking photographs. What you can’t see is the guard towers to both sides with NK guards watching us at all times. We were only allowed to photograph straight ahead. Apparently if you break these rules the soldiers will erase all photos from your camera or phone.
